Hi I'm Sal, I'm in the middle of being diagnosed with RA.  The rheumatologist went straight to methotrexate and having read and researched I really don't want to take.  I found Barbara's book and have been on a juice fast for 3 days and have broken it today as   I certainly have a lot less pain but have also felt very weak today and have to work for the rest of the week!  I'm interested in knowing what significant difference means after the fast though.  The pain and weakness in my knees improved enormously within the 2-3 day period, my feet are a lot less sore but my hands are still achey even though some of the inflammation seems to have diminished. Please could you let me know what you think.  From Barbara's book it doesn't seem as though all symptoms just disappear but certainly improve.  This has been my experience.

Thank you

Hi Sal

after a fast its a good idea to go easy on the foods, if you suspect any food allergies that is, try one of these elimination diets for a week initially and then start re-introducing each suspect food, say one a week, as described. Here's a link to the mcdougall page which gives a basic list of safe foods and is easy to understand

http://www.drmcdougall.com/med_allergic.html

this also makes interesting reading as what to eat,in more detail

cheers
