If you are using the book Conquering Arthritis to get well and would like a partner for going through this process, then ask for a partner here.

Hello-I am using the Book, Conquering Arthritis, and would love to be able to share with anyone their thoughts, experiences. etc.  I have yet to go on the elimination diet but am working towards it, avoiding night-shade plants, etc. and drinking fresh juices form a juicer that we purchased from Jack Lalanne, as well as utiilizing essential oils and massage and meditation.  I think it was an amazing book and made me feel so much less alone - the major population where I live does not know about ReA *(and probably are not interested!) - -anyway, would love to hear from you!

Dear Claudia,

Welcome to this forum.  Best of luck using the treatments in my Conquering Arthritis book.  One thing to be careful off is that people can react not just to what they eat, but all to what they smell and what in absorbed into the skin.  When you go through your elimination/selective reintroduction, be sure to eliminate essential oils and massage oil and test each one individually to make sure you aren't having an adverse reaction to one of the components.

Hi Paul,
I've just signed up and bought the book. (I'm in Australia so the book hasn't arrived yet). I'd be happy to be a buddy with you to work thru the course.
I was diagnosed in 2000 with RA and have kept in mostly under control with diet and stress management. Altho I've never done food sensitivity testing and I tend to waver in my dietary strictness.
However in the past year it has been slowly getting worse to the point where I was seriously considering traditional treatment like methotrexate (sp?).
In desperation I did another search and found Barbra's site...
So here goes...
I look forward to really getting on top of this now... It's gone on too long and I'm sooo sick of pain every time I move or walk...
Hope to hear from you soon.

By the way, thank you Barbara, so much. The introductory videos are so inspiring... your really are my champion in getting well. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
Regards,
Susie

Hello, I have just finished reading Barbara's book and wondered how Claudia, Paul, and Susie are doing with the program? And how are you doing with your recovery from West Nile Virus Barbara?

Hi Muinin

I'm in a flare up at the moment, in multiple joints, not sure why, diet wise I'm doing a plant based diet, but struggling to find the cause/allergy just yet.

cheers

Hi Paul,
I'm sorry to hear you are flaring up at the moment. Are you sensitive to any plant based foods?
I have a sore throat and am taking Vit C which has dextrose (corn) and acorbic acid, which I know is also made from corn. So I am having a slight increase in symptoms today too. But this water fast diet is working despite the fact that it is slow going testing only one food per day. I now have a list of five foods I can definitely eat, three suspect, and one definite no no (salmon).
I wish I knew of a physician who distributes the products from www.allergyresearchgroup.com as I would not be sensitive to their products. I'll keep searching.
Hope you are feeling better soon, Paul.

Hi everyone,

I had been in a bad flare-up last yr--was diagnosed 2000 and flare-ups come and go.  However this was the first time I agreed to go on Humira to try to get control of the pain.  I also take ultram, flexeral, and mobic to help me deal with everything.  Towards the end of the year-Sept- some one mentioned Barbara's book on a RA group I was on.  Through that I got the book and then had the ALCAT Blood Test done.  Just got the blood results back and have found it very helpful on what foods I can and can not eat.  Was surprised at the list of what I can eat, it sure takes the guess work and time period out of it.

Hope all of you are doing better and are being blessed.

Dear Muirnin,

You might want to check out http://www.nutricology.com/. It is the retail site for the Allergy Research group. It looks like they sell the same exact products with slightly different packaging.

Hope that helps.  Smiley

Thank you,
I had subsequently found Nutricology but forgot to post it on here. Smiley Thanks for doing so. Shipping to Canada where their products need to be kept refridgerated is hugely expensive, as in, double the cost of the prduct so I've since found products by a company called Trophic and probiotics by a company called Inno-Vite. In order to find four different brands of each supplement I take (so that I can rotate sources), I may end up having to order from them. Time for more research!

Hello, I am a new member and have not yet started this program although it sounds promising, and I am so hoping it works.  I was diagnosed with Reactive Arth. 8 months ago.  I was told in the beginning that this would eventually go away but I am fast losing hope.  I am a 38 year old Mom of three and I am sooo tired of having pain with every step.  Can anyone relate to my situation?  I would love to hear from you if you have this and have been able to put it in remission.

Hi Jamie,

I had reactive arthritis.  At first my doctors said it would go away in a month.  Then they said within 6 months.  After one year they got mad and called me a slacker, which was not true.  All they needed to do was look at my blood work to see that I still had lots of inflammation.  Around that point, I got a new doctor, but after a year or two she said nothing more could be done for me and refused to work with me any longer.  That is when I started to find alternative methods that did help reactive arthritis.  I eventually completely conquered my reactive arthritis and wrote my book so that others with ReA and RA could benefit from the effective alternative treatments I found, that my doctors denied existed.  I have been completely arthritis-free since 1999.

Does that help?

Hi Jamie, welcome ,you found the right place to start reversing this, the main problem if you have a family is getting everyone on board, so to speak, with your dietary changes  as you go along, but I found that at first everyone was bemused by my diet, as time went on they started to eat the same foods I did, so I think families will adapt with you and help you.It wont do them any harm.

Its complicated but ultimately worthwhile

Lets us know you get on.
